Ideal weight

Orientative weight range plus body condition (BCS) guidance. Breed and the individual matter more than a generic number.

Tools with context

Orientative range

10 – 25 kg

Orientative range. Breed and body type matter more than generic size.

Guides

Body weight alone does not tell the whole story.

This tool provides an orientative range and adds basic body-condition guidance. Two animals of the same breed and weight can have different body composition, so the number should be combined with observation and follow-up.

Why we use a range

Instead of presenting one perfect weight, we show a reference that should be interpreted alongside size, structure, muscle and body condition. The aim is to spot trends and support a useful conversation with your veterinarian.

A range is not a diagnosis

Growth, pregnancy, muscle mass, breed and illness can make a generic range unsuitable. A professional can assess body condition individually.

What to observe at home

  • Ribs should be easy to feel with an appropriate fat cover.
  • Look for a visible waist from above and an abdominal tuck where appropriate.
  • Weigh your pet periodically and compare trends rather than one day.
  • For rapid changes, pain, fatigue or loss of appetite, contact your veterinarian.
